MINT (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) is the world’s first purpose-built toy museum, opening in 2007 in our very own Singapore. They’ve amassed a collection of over 50,000 items, with 8,500 of them are on display within the museum; their collection comprises of vintage toys, childhood memorabilia, and original copies of comics and posters.
The hometowns of their collection are located all over the world, from over 40 countries! Their oldest toy was made in 1840 too, and despite their ripeness of age, many of the toys are in mint (get it) condition and are displayed within their original boxes!
The collection is made up of various key collections, including Batman, Dan Dare, Japanese character and space-related toys, and collectables. Im addition to toys, the museum houses a collection of confectionary vintage tin boxes, large-item displays, such as Mobo horses and pedal cars, as well as original enmel advertising signs. Over the years, they have been incorporated into various exhibitions and programmes run by the museum, serving as windows into the past as well as inspirations for the present.
Today, MINT Museum of Toys serves diverse and expanding audiences, including tourists, families, collectors, artists and students. It continues to fascinate and inspire the imaginations of audiences, taking them on a journey of rediscovery to rekindle that Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys (MINT).
